The Wave Work® was developed by Dayashakti  (Sandra Scherer) who was a resident at Kripalu Yoga Center for 20 years where she studied under Swami Kripalvananda. She skillfully translated the ancient Yogic principles he taught into a process she named, The Wave Work®. She was passionate about bringing this knowledge into the world so it could be available to all of us. To achieve her goal she created an Institute where she trained and certified practitioners to carry on the work. In her own words, Daya described her journey this way:

" In 1973, I joined what is now known as Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. My work centered primarily around designing and directing personal growth programs, mentoring program staff, and counseling staff and guests. During the first year of my 20-year residency at the Center, I took formal vows as a renunciate (nun) in the lineage of renowned yoga master Swami Kripalvananda (after whom Kripalu Center is named). I had the unique good fortune to be taught directly by him. My passion and commitment to psycho-spiritual work, coupled with my close association with Swami Kripalvananda, set the stage for the foundational teachings of The Wave Work®.

In 1993, I left residency at Kripalu Center to establish The Wave Work® as a formal healing modality in the world. Since then, the work has been taught to several thousand people in the form of individual sessions, lectures, introductory weekends, weeklong intensives and graduate programs. In 1998, I began TWW® Certification Training hoping this work would be much more available to the general public through trained practitioners. I feel enormously grateful to all who have so generously given their love, time, expertise and energy. The work would not be what it is today without them."

Dayashakti achieved her intention. Our beloved Dayashakti left her body in March of 2003.
